Banana Bread Recipe

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Stir the baking soda into the mashed bananas and let it sit for 2 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar.
  5. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract.
  6. Combine the banana mixture with the butter mixture.
  7. Sift the flour and salt into the wet mixture and mix until just incorporated.
  8. If desired, fold in the chopped nuts.
  9. Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
